Principal

I am so honored to be rejoining the Carter Elementary team. As principal, building connections with students, staff, and the community is really important to me, so let me share a little about myself.
I grew up in Clio, in the same house that my mom still lives in. I attended SVSU and earned a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with focuses in math and English. Through different opportunities and encouragement from colleagues and principals, I earned my Master’s in Educational Leadership from EMU. A few years later, I completed a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Belhaven University.
I am blessed to have had so many opportunities and experiences in education, all of which have taught me so much and allowed me to meet and work with such dear people. I have taught or worked with grades preschool through twelfth in some capacity, which allows me to appreciate the uniqueness of each level, but my first love has always been elementary. My journey has taken me to North Carolina, Austria, Rwanda, and back to Michigan in the past 20 plus years, but I am so grateful to be back in Montrose.
Montrose holds a special place in my heart since I first started teaching here 8 years ago. I loved my time at Carter and KHMS, and am so thankful to be back with the dedicated and compassionate Carter team!
We all know that to be the best we can be, we must all work together: students, parents, and staff. I am so happy to be part of the work in this school and district and am excited to see how we will continue to strive towards greatness!
Sincerely,
Ms. Munsey
